Roles and Responsibilities

  • Chair of the Student Chamber
  • Chair of the Study Committee
  • Member of the Editorial board
  • Member of university IT Committee

For the final year of my term, I was elected Chair of the Student Chamber. During this time, I organized and led meetings of the Student Chamber, communicated with faculty management and the rest of the Senate, and attended meetings of the Dean’s Council as a student representative. Among the biggest issues we faced that year were the transition to Microsoft email accounts and faculty promotion. We successfully implemented the MS email solution and, as a result of our persistent efforts, the Faculty PR department opened a new position dedicated solely to social media—an idea that had initially been strongly opposed by faculty management.

As soon as I joined the Student Chamber, I also accepted the role of Chair of the Study Committee. My first task was to attempt what many considered impossible: passing a proposal to split the state exam and thesis defense for master’s students. At that point, the issue had remained unresolved for several years. However, through a series of meetings with all stakeholders, we were finally able to find a solution acceptable to everyone. Today, students in master’s programs no longer have to complete both parts at the same time; instead, they can first pass their state exam and then comfortably finish and defend their thesis afterward.

I also took the opportunity to join the University IT Committee. During my time there, I helped with the transition to Microsoft email accounts across the entire university. This was particularly challenging at our faculty, where many students and academics alike were strongly opposed to adopting such a corporate solution.

As a member of the Editorial Board, I participated in the editorial process for all books published by MatfyzPress.

Overall, I found these four years extremely rewarding, and I strongly believe that my work helped move the faculty in the right direction.
