OPTO2024 Conference Organization
Student-led optics conference — planning, coordination, and delivery
What OPTO2024 was
OPTO2024 was a student-led optics-focused conference organized at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University. The goal was to create a friendly, high-signal space for students and early-stage researchers to present work, exchange ideas, and build connections across optics-related fields.
My role
I was part of the core organizing team and helped coordinate the event from early planning through on-site execution.
Responsibilities
- Program structure and scheduling
- Speaker and participant coordination
- On-site logistics and technical setup
- Communication between organizers, faculty, and participants
- Post-event feedback and documentation
Outcome
- Successfully delivered a complete conference experience
- Strengthened cross-group connections within the optics community
- Established a reusable template for future student-led events
Lessons learned
Organizing even a small conference is a systems problem: clear ownership, lightweight documentation, and fast iteration mattered more than tools.
